The Old Testament gives 60 major prophecies of the Messiah, and 270 ramifications of those prophecies. The mathematical probability of One Man fulfilling even eight of the major prophecies has been calculated at 1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 (10 to the 18th power). That number of silver dollars, spread over the face of Texas, would make a layer two feet deep.

Christ claimed a legal right to "the throne of David" through his earthly father - Joseph who was descended from King Solomon | According to the prophet Jeremiah (Jer. 22 28-30) no According to the prophet Jeremiah (Jer. 22 28-30) no descendent of *** Jehoiachin would ever prosper reigning on Davids throne. Therefore the Messiah would have to be a biological descendent of David, but NOT of Jehoiachin. The ancestry of Mary fulfills this requirement. |
The Temple in Jerusalem, with all of the written records proving ancestry, was destroyed in 70AD. Messiah must therefore appear before the Temple was destroyed.
The Messiah must be born a virgin descendent of David, who would marry (before the birth of her son) a man descended from David's royal line through Solomon. Perhaps only one woman in Israel fulfilled these requirements. Mary the mother of Christ.
*One who had money and influence would most likely bribe his way out of execution with common criminals.
*** While Jehoiachin (also called Jeconiah or Coniah) had several sons (1 Chron. 3:17,18) no one of them ever reigned over Israel as King. He was therefore childless in terms of an heir to the throne.
***Ahaziah, Joash, and Amaziah were idolatrous kings who died violent deaths. (2 Chron 22:3,4; 2 Chron. 24:17,18; 2 Chron. 25:14). Their names were blotted out from the geneology of Christ in Matthew's gospel.
****Joseph is called the son of Heli, in Luke 3:23. He was the son-in-law. "Father-in-law" in ancient Hebrew was also termed "Father".
